History

Aurora

The name CNVA is inspired in the acronym of the original family business and it picks up the mantle, from a modern, flexible and agile point of view but maintaining the values of simplicity and optimisation of the resources of the company. Sustaining long term connections with customers as one of the key pieces in their value chain.

Our family has been associated with maritime transport since 1923 when Compañía Naviera del Vapor Aurora SA is founded in Bilbao. The company started with a vapour ship named Aurora after which it was named.

As a curiosity, the first Aurora sailed for nearly 100 years, since it was acquired in 1923 but it had been built in 1868. Finally, it was scrapped in 1964, being a clear example that things were built to last. It was primarily employed in the transport of coal and iron for the furnaces in Vizcaya.
